listen to this song
/ Am - E7 - / G - D - / F - C - / Dm - E - /
I had a brush with a comet on the edge of Sector Five
I thought that I would be lucky just to get home alive
All the fuel tanks were empty, the ship was coming apart
Then I detected a beacon that wasn't on the chart
I was receiving a signal, but all the readings were strange
Some said it was very close, some said it was out of range
All my sensors went crazy -- what's going on here?
Then all of the stars went out, but the signal was loud and clear:
/ F - C - / E7 - Am - / F - C - / Dm - E - /
Welcome to the Hole in Sector Four
Such a lovely place, such a folded space
Plenty of room in the Hole in Sector Four
Such a friendly clime, drop in anytime
I steered straight for the beacon, I was losing my grip
There was some kind of station there, built from hulks of old ships
Then I heard on the com link: Please steer in to the dock
Someone will be by to greet you as soon as you clear the lock
She was smiling serenely, she said: It's like this
We've made a kind of a home here in the heart of the abyss
We're just having a party, you're invited of course
Especially since you are trapped here by an irresistable force
Welcome to the Hole in Sector Four
Such a lovely place, such a folded space
Livin' it up in the Hole in Sector Four
Drop on by and see our singularity
I guess the party was nice but I couldn't take any more
I had to find a passage back to the place I was before
I escaped in a shuttle, I made my main engine burn
All the voice on the com link said was: See you when you return
The beacon fell behind me, its light shifted red
Then I picked it up again, blue-shifted ahead
I suppose that's the downside of a dimensional cleft
You can leave on any course you like, but you won't really have left
