Surely this pun has been made many times — the challenge was to write a song as rich with irony and disappointment as the original. The grammar alone should reveal who is singing.
lyrics by Benjamin Newman
ttto: "Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim
See now, I do
Planned this, you did
One hand in the open to strike
One to stay hid
Send in the clones
So come the Sith
Always in twos
For you your clone war to win
Both sides must lose
Send in the clones
Wise, Jedi are?
Will we not learn?
Fighting your war while you watch
And wait for your turn
Leading an army whose loyalty
We cannot trust
Played our part, we have
Die now, we must
To this, it comes
Well-matched, we are
This game too long played, we have
With pawns, from afar
Now where are the clones?
Send in the clones
Not done, am I
Fight, I can still
Judge me by my size, do you not?
See now my skill
You gave us the clones
Betrayed us with clones
Return yet, we will
