Let me tell you a story 'bout a man named Thomas
As he rode through the greenwood's shade
He heard strange music playing in the distance
And so from the path he strayed
He followed the sound to a secluded clearing
Where a circle of mushrooms stood
And inside that circle was a great big party
And the music was really good!
And did he ever return? No, he never returned!
And his fate is still unlearned
He may dance forever in that faery circle
He's the man who never returned
Tom was barely inside when his toes started tapping
To the sound of the faery beat
He began to dance and while the band kept playing
Thomas couldn't get off his feet
And did he ever return? No, he never returned...
At first Tom remembered that when visiting faery
One should not eat or drink a thing
But after all that dancing, well, he got really thirsty
Now he's trapped in the faery ring!
And did he ever return? No, he never returned...
Tom's little sister goes out to the forest
Every year on the eve of May
And as the veil grows thin she hands Thomas a sandwich
So that he doesn't fade away
But does he ever return? No, he never returns...
Kindly bear in mind as you walk through the forest
There are songs not for mortal ears
If you stray like Tom to hear the faery music
You might dance for a hundred years
And you might never return, like Tom never returned...
