There once was an island covered in trees
Where small folk dwelt in plenty and ease
Wizards from Greece found our spices of worth
Called our land "Navel of the Earth"
They called it "Omphalonika"
Oompa Loompa, commerce and trade
Feasts and friends and fortunes were made
But the Bronze Age ended in woe
All those long-lost ages ago
Then new Wizards came to our home
Bearing the sword of Imperial Rome
Demanded tribute that wasn't their right
We refused and prepared to fight
Fight them for our freedom!
Oompa Loompa, battle and war
We had strong magic, the Wizards had more
We fought well, but in spite of our pains
Half our folk were taken in chains
The Elders knew it was not going well
At last they prepared a most desperate spell
To seal our land from the Enemy's spears
A dozen, dozen, dozen years
That's one thousand seven hundred
Oompa Loompa, ages have past
Another Wizard found us at last
The very day that the spell was undone
He washed ashore -- could he be the one?
Young and brash and extremely naive
He learned of us what we let him believe
But he shared our obsession with sweets
We told him it would be our treat
To help him run his factory
Oompa Loompa, innocent fool!
Wonka was merely our pawn and our tool
We made his chocolate, but why we were there
Was to find out how the Stolen had fared
Wonka knew nothing, what could he say?
The rest of the Wizards were hidden away
Living in secret from non-magic folk
Making our people bear a yoke
Keeping them as House Elves
Oompa Loompa, pallid and drawn
Something remains, but something is gone
Our strong magic lives in them still
But Wizards stole away their free will
Born into bondage, what could be worse?
Born under an Imperius Curse!
That's not nature, it's somebody's fault!
Who do you think should bear the guilt?
The Wizards who enslaved them!
Oompa Loompa, you can be sure
For every curse, the Land has a cure
Herbs and spices are medicines all
It was for this we answered the call
Tend to the orchid, tend to the bee
Epiphytes grow hydroponically
Jars of honey amass on the shelves
A taste of home will free the Elves
Every single one of them
Oompa Loompa, folk of the Land
The time to act is almost at hand
We will see the prophecy through
Like the Oompa Loompa doompity do!
