Partially inspired, as are many of my songs about incidents in Faery, by true events.

I was running my finger down the library shelves
I found a Modern Road Atlas to the Land of the Elves
And since I'm one of them folks who've got to see for themselves
I started planning my expedition
Only I have to admit it wasn't much of a plan
I hit the highway just as fast as I could load up the van
I gave the Modern Road Atlas a perfunctory scan
I didn't read the admonition

I was speeding like a demon down the road less traveled
When the pavement petered out and ran right into the gravel
And after that reality began to unravel
And the sky began to glow
The miles were rushing past and I was barely countin'
Took a hard right turn at the enchanted fountain
And found myself careening off the edge of a mountain
To the valley far below
And that was how I went and ruined my vacation
Not the recommended route to reach your destination
So if you find yourself in that same situation
You should learn from my mistakes

Before you hit the highway for the Land of Faery
You should take a second look at your itinerary
And if you love your life you should be very very
Sure to check your brakes
